A motocross chest protector, also occasionally referred to as a roost protector, is an important piece of gear to use when riding quads. They are most often worn over a coat to add more protection against crashes for your chest, shoulders, and back. They are usually made from flexible plastic, and use suspended mesh.  If you ride trails on rough ground, are into mx riding, or want extra protection, you should seriously think about getting a chest protector.

Chest protectors are offered in many differing styles, depending on the particular  need. You’ll only get a minimal modest degree of  extra protection from a low end chest protector. A more elaborate chest protector may include padding on the shoulder, elbow pads and pads for the back, giving the best possible torso protection. As with other equipment, thoroughly study the quality of the construction. When looking at a chest protector, check where the straps join to the plastic. How are they joined with the plastic? Is the plastic bendy, but sturdy, or does it appear to be weak?
